JAPANESE SASHIKO SARASHI CLOTH – FINE OR COARSE WEAVE

Traditional Japanese white Sarashi cotton, pre-cut to the ideal size for creating a sashiko Hanafukin cloth. Sarashi cotton is ideal for sashiko because its smooth, even weave is easy to stitch through while providing a strong, durable base that showcases the distinctive running stitches beautifully.

Each piece measures approximately 34 × 71cm and is designed to be folded to create a finished piece measuring approximately 34 × 34cm.

Choose between two different weaves, depending on the type of sashiko you’d like to create:

BUN – COARSE WEAVE
A softer, more open-weave Sarashi particularly suited to larger, bolder sashiko designs. The fabric is soft and absorbent and is recommended for use with standard/medium-weight sashiko thread. Its more open weave also makes it easy to stitch, making this a good choice for sashiko beginners.

OKA – FINE WEAVE
A finer, more closely woven Sarashi suited to delicate and detailed sashiko designs. The fabric has a slightly firmer feel and is recommended for use with thin sashiko thread, allowing you to create finer, more intricate stitching.
